As the 2027 elections approach, the people of Jigawa Northeast Senatorial District are not merely choosing between just candidates as they are deciding the future direction of their representation at the National Assembly. This is a defining moment that calls for careful reflection on performance, knowledge and experience, and measurable impact.
At the centre of this conversation is the incumbent, distinguished Senator, Ambassador Ahmed Abdulhamid Malam Madori, who, by the glory of the almighty Allah and the opportunity given to him by his constituency served as:

His appointment as chairman, senate committee on police affairs, one of the most strategic and influential committees in the National Assembly and member in some other sensitive senate committees could not be a mere coincidence but based on the above listed achievements.
Legislative representation should not always be an entry-level assignment. While democracy thrives on renewal, knowledge and experience remain powerful assets, especially for a constituency that is steadily advancing and can not afford to lose momentum.
Replacing effective representation solely for the sake of change risks losing numerous legislative benefits. Seniority and ranking are key advantages for effective performance of legislative functions and for appointments into relevant committees. When a region is still consolidating its developmental gains, the cost of ‘learning on the job’ is significant and very risky.
PERFOMANCE IN THE NIGERIAN SENATE:
The main functions of a legislator include passing laws pertaining to issues affecting public interest. Therefore, the strength of any legislator lies in his ability to pass law(s) or to contribute to the motion or bills passed in the house by either colleagues or from the executive arm of government.
Senator Ahmad’s performance in the red chamber could be seen in the number of bills he passed and the roles played in supporting colleagues and the active participation in various committees. This is not to talk of the lengthy list of constituency projects across his constituency that could hardly be squeezed into this write-up.

5. Bill for the Establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Hadejia, 2025 (SB: 278)

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, he facilitated the following between June 2023 and February 2026:

– Provision of Armed and Utility Police Vehicles:

– A Special Police Training School in Kafin Hausa (approved; state government allocated land; awaiting budget release)
– Police secondary school, Hadejia (ongoing).
TRANSFORMATIONAL HAMAN CAPITAL INVESTMENT:
Most impactful is his commitments in the important areas of education, youth empowerment, and medical that could easily be attested to from the following samples:
– Sponsored 300 students on various programs, both within and outside the country;
– Sponsorship of JAMB registrations:
– 2024 – 1,200 students
– 2025 – 1,200 students
– 2026 – 1,500 students
– 2,000 merit-based scholarships worth ₦20 million for local students
– N20 million medical revolving fund
– Construction of primary Health Care Centre in Yayari, Hadejia Local government.
– Eye treatment programs for 5,000 patient (ongoing)
These are but few from constituency projects that are not only statistics on paper. They are all realities that affect different categories of families, aimed at uplifting and restoring dreams, and preparing the upcoming generation for leadership.
Appreciable number of infrastructure projects and grassroots interventions, too numerous to be listed here, have been spread across the eight local government areas of the senatorial district, ensuring inclusive development.
MATTERS OF STRATEGIC, MATURE, AND USEFUL RELATIONSHIP:
Effective representation requires self-respect, synergy, and interdependence. The working relationship between the Distinguished Senator and the Governor, Mallam (Dr.), Umar A. Namadi, as well as with other legislators, reflects a mature partnership between the executive and legislative arms, based on respect, that prioritizes development.
Political distractions and manufactured conflicts must not derail the unity required for sustained progress and development for mutual benefits.
THE STRATEGIC CHOICE
The question before the people is simple: Why interrupt momentum that is already delivering measurable and tangible results?
Democracy allows for change—but change must be justified and defended by practical performance, not mare sentiments. When leadership is effective, connected, and productive, continuity becomes not just the safer choice—but the strategic one. Ultimately, decisions belong to the people. However, it should be guided by evidence over emotion, performance over promises, and proven capacity over speculations.
In 2027, the choice is not merely about who speaks—it is about who delivers. This reminds us of several positive comments by both active and retired senior Police officers present during the public hearing to consider the Bill on police institutions and police service commission institute. They described the bills as one of the most positive developments in the history of Nigerian police.
Another historic call was on the 17th January, 2026, by the chairman media, Horse Racing Federation of Nigeria, A. Aminu Hassan Zoramawa, asking Jigawa Northeast Senatorial zone to make sure the incumbent Senator is returned for his oustanding contributions in making the just concluded Hadejia international horse racing dervy a success.
This write-up is not from the office of the distinguished senator but from the little knowledge I have of his performances from the time he assumed duty to date.
