Delegates of the All Progressives Congress from the 287 political wards and 27 local government areas of Jigawa State have affirmed Governor Umar Namadi as the party’s sole governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.
The governorship primary, held at the Dutse Township Stadium, was supervised by a seven-member APC national committee led by Isa Sadiq Achida, alongside officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission who monitored the exercise.
Presenting the certificate of return to the governor, Dr Achida said the affirmation was conducted in line with the provisions of Sections 84, 86 and 87 of the Electoral Act 2022, as well as Article 20 of the APC Constitution.
“By the powers conferred on me under Sections 84, 86 and 87 of the Electoral Act and Article 20 of the APC Constitution, I hereby declared Governor Umar Namadi as the APC governorship candidate for Jigawa State in the 2027 general election and present him with the certificate of return,” he stated.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Namadi expressed appreciation to the people of the state, party stakeholders and elders for endorsing him for a second term.
The governor said if re-elected, his administration would continue to pursue its “Greater Jigawa” agenda to its logical conclusion.
Namadi described the Jigawa APC consensus arrangement as one of the most successful in the country, noting that the process recorded “almost 90 per cent success” across the state.
The event was attended by two former governors of the state, serving and former members of the National and State
Houses of Assembly, APC national and state officials, as well as party supporters across the state.
